Avalon on the Beach

Opened in July 2015 this cafe/restaurant has one of the best beach views in Sydney. You cannot get any closer to the beach unless you are picnicking on the sand.

Located on two levels in the newly built Avalon Surf club there is a casual downstairs cafe and also a more formal restaurant type setting upstairs. Go upstairs and behind the sliding door is a beautiful airy space with tables overlooking the beach. Book ahead if you want these fantastic tables.

I was there for breakfast and coffee (Double Roasters).

Plenty to choose from: eggs every which way, chia pudding, smashed avocado on toast. See attached menu.

The chorizo omelet we ordered came in a cast pan, was very spicy and well cooked. Coffees were good too.

Ordered a raspberry and chocolate muffin, but it had no chocolate. Great otherwise.

Plenty of servers who were friendly and attentive. The downstairs cafe had them queuing for more. This place should do well. A great addition to beachside dining.

Cost for two: $28

Rating: MG with the top down.
